A digital workplace is a virtual form of the traditional, in-person office environment, where many elements of business collaboration, process and productivity are performed through a combination of digital applications, cloud computing and other technology. A range of cloud technologies are typically used to create a homogeneous virtual working environment in which people can create, share, discuss with colleagues and clients as if they were in a physical location.
The digital workplace has come a long way since the concept of the intranet and extranet took hold in the early 2000’s. The Morgan and Wolfe founders led one of the earliest major Microsoft SharePoint digital workplace deployments in 2004 for 22,000 Education users and from there have advised numerous national and global organisations in digital workplace strategy and deployment as well as designing numerous workplace solutions for discerning clients.
Indeed we led the very first European case study of business instant messaging using Live Communication Server in 2006 for the launch of the Microsoft Office 2007 suite
By the late 2000’s many clients were requesting bespoke workplace solutions as new collaborative technologies became more accessible, connectivity became faster and more stable and work from home or on the move policies developed to cater to meet business requirements.
The commodification of the digital workplace was a major advancement with the advent of the Microsoft cloud in 2013 and Morgan and Wolfe was one of the very first companies to produce a complete, packaged, yet flexible digital workplace solution that dramatically reduced the time and costs for a complete enterprise deployment. Indeed Morgan and Wolfe’s innovative approach was recognized on the Microsoft Fast Track Partner program from the USA in 2018.
